Asian Supermarket: QKO Asian Market:

Are you searching for an Asian grocery store in Abu Dhabi that provides Asian food and snacks that reminds you of your homeland? Then, QKO Asian Market is the place for you, which is one of the best Asian supermarkets in Abu Dhabi. 

Our Experience

QKO is an Asian market that sells Korean, Japanese, and Thai food, more specialised in beverages. It is conveniently located in Hamdan Bin Mohammed St. Well, when we reached there to review the market, the employees were very welcoming and friendly. Well, since we are not Asian food lovers, we were amazed by the stuff and desired to try every single thing. 

The supermarket has 2 floors, but it is not that big. However, on the ground floor, they supply a variety of types of Asian noodles, dumplings, frozen food, and a bunch of other things. As well as Asian snacks, they have different kinds of chips, sweets, and drinks. We tried two flavors of mochi ice cream, strawberry, and mango. Both were delicious, but we liked the mango more. The staff recommended us to try  a chocolate ice cream called (chocolate ice), it is their best seller, it’s like chocolate ice cream bites. It was yummy!! We truly liked it. 

On the 2nd floor, they have stationery, ice creams, and some cute plushies. Hey, are you a BTS lover? They got you, they have some BTS Merch for you as well. From the ice creams we tried, one was like a wafer stuffed with vanilla ice cream, it was delicious. 

We recommend that you go to QKO Asian Market. Especially if you are an Asian food lover, and if not go and give it a try. You’ll  love it there  since we experienced excellent customer service, and the place is cozy and clean. According to prices, they are reasonable and acceptable. And if you are looking for an Asian supermarket near you they are now providing online ordering and they will deliver to your home.

Chinese Supermarket: Wemart Wenchao supermarket:

If you’re looking for an Asian grocery store for great products and best deals with lots of smiles guaranteed to make you enjoy your purchased items, then you must visit Wemart Wenchao,. It is one of the best Asian supermarkets in Abu Dhabi. It is a popular Asian supermarket referring to its convenient location,  that is located in Salam&Hamdan street junction in Abu Dhabi.

Our experience

Wemart is a Chinese supermarket that provides a wide range of products. Most of the products they are selling are Chinese, but there are some Korean and local products as well. The supermarket has two floors. On the ground floor, they sell  snacks, drinks, cooked food, and a bakery. In addition to that, they have a small section of housewares and skincare products. And on the second floor, they have fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen food, meat, and there is a seafood section where the seafood is alive and fresh. There is also a section for non-muslims.

The most thing that attracts us in this Chinese market is that they are preparing foods and drinks with fresh and high quality ingredients at very reasonable prices. Lucky for you, you will have the chance to take the ready-made Asian food that is cooked in an Asian style. These are some of the cooked foods that they are selling: sushi, cilantro chicken floss cake, refreshing radish slices, halogen tofu skin, and braised cuttlefish.

At this Chinese food supermarket, you will probably find your favorite Asian dishes in the cooked-food section. If not, you can get all the ingredients at the grocery section, and prepare your favorite Asian meal at home.

Korean supermarket: Karat Supermarket

We went to this Asian supermarket in Abu Dhabi, whose owner is Korean and imports fresh and frozen Korean food. So this supermarket is for people who are looking for only Korean food , and this is their location where most of their food is frozen.

Our experience

The workers are not Korean, but they are speaking fluent English and were helpful with a good background in Korean food. We found trouble in finding this location but you can ask anyone near to the location and they can guide you, also the parking is hard sometimes. 

The first thing we noticed about this supermarket is the cleanliness and tidiness, the food is well organised and stocked. However, there is little fresh food, and fruit in this supermarket. They are importing it from Korea frozen or Ajman. It is a small supermarket for Asian workers who are working near Mussafah, and other nationalities who like Korean food. Also, there is no place to eat Korean noodles if you are planning to eat there. 

There was no price tag on the shelves which was hard for us to compare the prices, it was not cheap but reasonable. There is frozen and fresh tofu, they sell spices, groceries, frozen Korean food, and delicious Kimchi and there are not many choices of Korean snacks  and drinks. However, when we came to buy fresh tofu they told us it was sold out and will come after two weeks.

 There is a nearby Korean restaurant for people who would like to eat some cooked Korean food also. It is not a supermarket for people who are looking for healthy Asian food.

Madang supermarket

Have you ever thought of having a pure Korean supermarket in Abu Dhabi near you? We got your back.

Our experience

We visited Madang Supermarket , a Korean Supermarket located in Abu Dhabi. It was easy to reach and park as they have parking lots next to the two supermarket entrances.They open from 9:00AM till 10:30PM including the weekend. From the moment we entered the place, we felt the Korean vibes from the way the employees welcomed us to the decorations all over the place. Madang Supermarket sells different types of products like grocery, lifestyle items, kids toys, stationary and beauty products. In addition, they sell exclusive Korean albums from famous singers. They have delivery as well in case you were not able to visit them. The place is very organised where you will find separate sections for each type of product.

We tried two of their best selling Asian noodles which are Korean noodles, spicy and medium spicy noodles. You can either buy it and prepare it at home, or you can ask them to prepare it in front of you at the shop, which is what we chose to do. You will love the spicy noodles if you like spicy food, as it has a rich flavor, but I couldn’t finish it as I am not a spicy food lover. The medium spicy noodles were very tasty and I will definitely go back again for it. You can pay extra money to add cheese, or egg, or both. They have a small place where we sat and enjoyed our noodles hot and fresh. After asking about the prices we noticed that they are lower than any Asian Supermarket we visited here in Abu Dhabi. 

Challenges

One challenge that we faced is that the writings on the products are all in the Korean language, but the employees are very helpful and they helped us with reading. In addition, you can use technology like Google translate App, where you can place your phone camera in front of the text and it will be translated into your preferred language immediately.

You have to go there by yourself to try the great experience that we had, as you can experience the Korean vibes from your hometown Abu Dhabi.
