Rain Room

Rain Room is an incredible place and attraction in Sharjah where people from around the emirates go to it. It is a place which is considered as an installation of high-tech art, in which a person can walk through a cascade of water coming down as if it is real rain. What is more interesting, the place has some kind of sensors, so when passing through, no one can get wet. Moreover, it is not just a place where people and tourist can take photos of, but also has a corner of coffee shop. Rain Room is highly as modern and unique installation. Our Experience

As soon as we entered the Rain Room, we immediately got that incredible feeling of living in another world with all the people going there standing under a cascade that looks like real rain drops. Moreover, we were surprised that the falling water is recycled water with a self-cleaning process, which we thought was a great thing to do for such a place with all people visiting it. However, before entering the main place of the Rain Room, we were aware that to walk through the artificial rain, we should have slow movements in order for the sensors to confirm our positions. Furthermore, we were surprised that the ticket to enter the Rain Room was affordable for everyone.

After taking a few photos in this wonderful place, we decided to go to the cafe where they had options of drinks and bites. Afterall, it was an unforgettable experience ever.

Souq Al Shanasiyah

Souq Al Shanasiyah is one of Sharjah’s oldest Souq. As part of Sharjah’s historical development, Al Shanasiyah is a renovated old Souq. The word Souq is an Arabic word which means “market”. The Souq, on the other hand, has its own concept and is one of the region’s historic structures, with everything being traditional. Al Shanasiyah is one of the amazing attractions to visit if you want to learn more about Sharjah, as it is one of the oldest locations in the city where tourists love to see. On Weekends, the place is a little crowded with people looking to buy traditional stuff. In addition, the location has cafes, restaurants and retail outlets. Therefore, the historical center has been established here, which showcases some of the area’s excavation and offers a brief story about the antiques.

Our Experience

As soon as we arrived at Souq Al Shanasiyah, we split into two groups, with half of us exploring the left side of the souq and the other half exploring the right side. We were in such a good mood as we walked between the antique shops. We saw a lot of wonderful antiques as well as existing staff. After a long walk around the historic stores we stopped at a little grocery named “Dokan”, where we bought  the “Namlet”. We drink  the “Namlet” while chatting with the workers about life in the souq. Following that, we went to the Arabian Tea House restaurants for breakfast. Since we are still in the summer, the weather was hot, but the weather inside the restaurant was good.

However, after finishing our breakfast, we left the restaurant and walked as a group to the opposite side of the souq to look around the stores and see what they had to offer. We spent time together there, admiring the antiques that the buyers were selling and purchasing some for our families. Since the weather was hot and the sun was bothering us, we only stayed for a short time. Thus, we planned to revisit the place in winter and have more fun together between those old buildings, reliving the experience again.

Timing

Admission to the Souq is free.

House of Wisdom

The Sharjah House of Wisdom is an enhanced library that has a collection of more than 300,000 books in different languages. The House of Wisdom was opened in December following the announcement of Sharjah as World Book Capital of 2019. The House of Wisdom has redefined the concept of the library by not only allowing people to read books but also allowing them to share information and ideas with others. However, it also redefined the culture of the UAE. Thus, the House of Wisdom was initiated and completed by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority. The project of building the House of Wisdom in Sharjah was first organized and initiated by the president of Sharjah. The process enhances the overall culture, backgrounds and practices of Sharjah. There also exists a Children’s Library inside the House of Wisdom in order to influence the children to get engaged in reading books.

The Gulf News talked about the House of Wisdom, to visit the page tap here.

Our Experience

Our experiences have been great while visiting Sharjah House of Wisdom. The staff guided us to different corners of the library in order to make the books and information accessible. The staff has also assisted in finding what we are looking for so easily, by using a small tablet in the library to select what sections we need. The library also offers space for conducting meetings. The individuals can reserve rooms for conducting meetings and discussions. For recreation purposes there are two cafes inside the premises. The Frame Cafe and Chie Restaurant are open and closed at the same time as the library. In order to offer privacy to women, the House of Wisdom also offers a private section for ladies only and it is called ‘’Ladies Diwan”.

The Library
Kids Area

The library also aims to offer relaxation to the visitors. There are beds for the visitors who have travelled a long distance to visit the House of Wisdom. The visitors can take a rest and read books white resting on the bed. Therefore, it can be opined that Sharjah’s House of Wisdom influences diversity by allowing people to enhance their knowledge, share ideas, develop culture, and find proper comfort. It can be stated that House of Wisdom is a destination worth visiting for embracing peace of mind and developing knowledge on different cultures.

Al Noor Island

Al Noor Island is a wonderful small island with plenty of amazing scenery, beautiful views and a lot of nature to enjoy. The costs are reasonable and quite low. This attraction can be enjoyed during the summer, winter and other seasons as well; however, if the weather is extremely windy, rainy, or generally not in good condition it is better to not visit the island. There is a beautiful art exhibition on the island that has many outstanding installations, fossil rocks and art pieces. Al Noor Island

Our Experience

We took a visit to Al Noor Island during the weekend around 4 pm in the evening. The Butterfly house in our opinion, is the most fascinating feature on the island; however, there is a separate fee for it. Every person that lives in Sharjah, the other Emirates, or even tourists visiting the UAE should visit this Island; people of all ages will enjoy it, they also have a playground for children. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Due to our cultural clothes (Abaya), the best time to visit the island is during sunset. It took us two hours to discover the place thoroughly. As young adult tourists we enjoyed the small art exhibition they had on the island as it was interesting to read the meaning behind the pieces. We also visited Noor cafe for food and drinks. Al Noor island is truly one of the most beautiful attraction in Sharjah.

The Sharjah Art Museum has many wings, each offering a different exhibition. It exhibits works from several Arab countries from the second half of the twentieth century, mostly as a testament to the growth of visual art in the region and as a demonstration of how western styles affected regional artists.  The entrance to the Sharjah art museum is free, which is located in the heart of Sharjah that is surrounded by eye-catching heritage buildings all over the area. Therefore, you can always plan your tour based on what you see suitable, whether you would prefer to visit as a self-guided group, or you could observe an excursion led through one of the museum’s guides by asking the reception table. Moreover, all the employees in Sharjah Art Museum speak both fluently Arabic and English by your choice.

Our Experience

On our visit there, our experience was great as once we entered the museum the employee at the front desk welcomed us and offered a tour guide where she would lead us to the exhibitions and give us a brief explanation about them. There is a lot of artworks to admire here. We liked how the painting and the artwork were perfectly explained and the overview of the modern and contemporary Arab arts was phenomenal. However, once we finished our tour, we enjoyed our hot coffee at the coffee shop on the ground floor in the museum. Therefore. to know more about the place, check on their website.
