Qasr Al Hosn Abu Dhabi Festival takes place inside Qasr Al Hosn. It is located along the waterfront promenade of the Corniche in the heart of Abu Dhabi. You can reach Qasr Al Hosn easily, as it is located between many major hotels. Also, many signs have been put up to help visitors get to the festival faster.

Typically, the Qasr Al Hosn Festival takes seven to ten days in January or February, when winter arrives. Therefore, it is advised that you schedule your vacation well in advance to coincide with these periods.

Located in the centre of Abu Dhabi, beneath the ancient walls of the famous citadel, we visited a bustling bazaar known as the Qasr Al Hosn traditional clothing souk. Al Hosn is the place where visitors are taken back in time to see the customs of Emirati clothing amid the old architecture and rich cultural legacy. As we walked through Al Hosn’s souk it has a hive of activity where stalls selling an appealing variety of traditional clothes and accessories are arranged along tiny lanes. A captivating and memorable environment is created by the fragrant fragrances of oud and spices filling the air.Visitors are welcomed to Qasr Al Hosn by an array of colours and textures as they make their way through the maze of stalls; each item narrates a tale of skill and tradition.
Clothes
As we visited Al Hosn souk they provide a wide range of clothing options that perfectly reflect Emirati culture, from gorgeously embroidered jalabiyas to tastefully draped abayas. Craftspeople create timeless and modern products by deftly fusing traditional methods with modern design. As we went through the shop that is called Zehbat Al Areas it is one of the souk’s highlights and a popular spot in Al Hosn for aspiring brides looking for gorgeous bridal gowns. Here, brides may choose from a stunning assortment of gowns that are all carefully handmade with wonderful details and luxurious fabrics. Next to that , we visited the store that is called The Husain Abu Haleeqa stores, which are close by, and provide a wide range of handcrafted clothing, ranging from flowing robes to elaborately woven fabrics, each of which is a tribute to the region’s rich cultural legacy. A must-visit location in Qasr Al Hosn for guys looking for traditional clothing with a contemporary touch is Rufan guys Boutique. Originating from the resinous heartwood of agarwood trees, oud is highly valued for its uniqueness and richness, frequently pursued for its luxurious and endless appeal. Around Al Hosn souks , we found a variety of oud boutiques where the best quality of this priceless resin is carefully moulded into beautiful scents and perfumes. The captivating scent of bakhoor, an ancient incense that is highly valued in Arabian culture for its capacity to purify the air and foster a calm, welcoming atmosphere, perfectly complements the allure of oud. As we went to Qasr Al Hosn, the lingering scent of bakhoor invited us to partake in the timeless rituals of hospitality and camaraderie. Perfumes, with their diverse and captivating compositions, further enhance the olfactory tapestry of Qasr Al Hosn, inspired by the rich heritage and natural landscapes of the Arabian Peninsula. the perfumers craft fragrances that pay homage to the region’s traditions while embracing contemporary sensibilities, weaving together elements of history, culture, and emotion. Inside the walls of this historic site we saw the craftspeople creating exquisite jewellery inspired by the elaborate patterns and motifs that adorn the building. Jewellers combine elements of tradition and modern elegance to create one-of-a-kind adornments, drawing inspiration from the geometric patterns, arabesques, and elaborate detailing found within Qasr Al Hosn. Qasr Al Hosn inspires jewellery that reflects the essence of Emirati culture and craftsmanship, ranging from intricately engraved bracelets that echo the filigree work of the palace gates to necklaces decorated with gemstones that reflect the colours of the desert landscape. We honour Qasr Al Hosn’s lasting legacy with each piece, incorporating its legends and symbols into the fabric of contemporary society.

“Beit-Beit”
During our visit to the “Beit Beit” pavilion in Qasr Al Hosn, sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Children’s Library, we saw the children’s visitors enjoying the world of creativity that is not restricted by the digital age. This immersive experience invites children to enjoy exploring imaginative worlds that predate modern technology. This experience gives children the opportunity to create new memories by designing dolls through which they express their culture and heritage, while spending family time. The section also included a pillow fort area, a toy store, and an antique doll gallery, where dolls and dollhouses were made.
“Children’s Art Center”
When we had the opportunity to visit the “Children’s Art Center,” we were fascinated to witness how children are encouraged to embark on an enchanting journey through time. The centre serves as a catalyst for young individuals, igniting their creativity as they delve into the task of designing their miniature classic televisions. Drawing inspiration from the ancient cultural heritage of Qasr Al Hosn, participants are warmly invited to delve into the annals of history, handpicking cherished memories from the past to weave into their creations. With skillful hands and boundless imagination, they craft custom reels to adorn the screens of these nostalgic TVs. It’s truly a joy to see these young minds infuse their unique perspectives into each piece. And as they proudly gaze upon their finished creations, but a tangible representation of their journey through time, a cherished memento to take home. Trio x Dips serve a variety of different beverages and desserts which include the people’s favourite Matcha, their well-known Hot Chocolate and their own take of French toast that has a traditional twist to it. It is a must try pop-up to visit here at Al Hosn festival.
- “Meylas”
Meylas is one of the classic traditional food/drinks stands that everyone loves during festival season and they are also participating at Qasr Al Hosn. They’re known for their “luqaimat”, a traditional dish, as well as Arabic coffee, Karak tea, and much more.

During our visit to Qasr Al Hosn we encountered traditional shows such as dance,music, and poetry. we’ved watched these awesome traditional shows in Qasr Al Hosn such as: Na’ashat,Al Yowla,Taghrooda,Al Ayala.
What is Na’ashat ?
Na’ashat: is a dance for young girls with their long hair and moving gracefully to cheerful songs. The entire show was a delightful blend of elegance and joy. It’s a must-see for anyone looking to be enchanted by the beauty of traditional dance.
What is Yowla?
Al Yowla: is a dance for men and young boys performing intricate moves with sticks. It was so interesting to watch. It wasn’t just a regular dance; it was a cultural performance that made me appreciate the traditions of the region.
What is Taghrooda?
Taghrooda: It was a group of men with their camels, singing and saying poems as they walked around. The show was interesting because it reminded us of how people used to travel from one place to another in the old times.The men and their camels made the festival feel more real and meaningful.
What is Al Ayala?
Al Ayala: is a group of around 20 men dancing using a bamboo stick and moving together to the beat of the music.It was one of the best shows in the festival. We enjoyed it the most.The energy and rhythm of the song added to the excitement. We appreciated learning about this unique dance form. It was not just entertaining; it also gave us a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Stepping into the festival, we were captivated by the mix of music. When we watched our traditional shows, we felt really happy and proud. This makes us different from other countries because we have a special kind of dance that is unique and stands out. The festival was a celebration of cultural diversity, where each music told a unique story setting it apart from any other kind of music and the instruments, old radios and tv.

This wasn’t just any exhibit; it was a portal to the past, with its design inspired by the 1958 Al Ain home of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Standing there, you could almost feel the energy of a bygone era – a time of significant social and cultural change reflected in the architecture itself, seamlessly blending tradition with modern techniques. This wasn’t just an architectural marvel; it was a platform for talented Emirati designers. Studios presented thoughtfully designed furniture pieces, each accompanied by a personal touch – a small note detailing the designer’s journey, their inspiration, and the story behind each creation. It was a unique opportunity to not only appreciate the art but also connect with the artists directly, understanding their passion and dedication by showcasing their work in Qasr Al Hosn. Delving into Emirati Heritage: Antiques Unveiled at Qasr Al Hosn Festival
As we strolled through the Qasr Al Hosn Festival, the rich tapestry of Emirati culture unfurled before us. The next stop: the Antiques Exhibition, its entrance marked by the iconic ‘Sadu waving,’ a powerful symbol of Emirati women’s artistry for centuries. These vibrant woven creations, using natural materials like sheep, camel, and goat wool, adorned everything from furnishings to camel riding equipment. Sustainability intertwined with tradition – a core value echoed by Al Hosn festival itself. The inscription of Sadu on UNESCO‘s Intangible Cultural Heritage list only amplified its significance.
Stepping inside the pavilion, its design mirrored a traditional Emirati house. Five distinct sections, each inspired by different aspects, awaited exploration. At its heart, a central hallway with a Sadu-inspired fabric ceiling served as a haven for visitors to rest and soak in the ambiance. Much like a courtyard in an old Emirati home, it fostered a sense of community, further enhanced by the aroma of freshly brewed Arabic coffee offered free to all.
Each section boasted a collection curated by passionate Emirati heritage enthusiasts. In the first section, Hasan Busbir, a dedicated enthusiast, showcased his prized collection of antique clocks, watches, medical instruments, and even technological marvels. Abdullatif Alseiari’s section enthralled visitors with diverse ‘Dallahs,’ the ornate coffee pots central to Emirati coffee rituals. Every Dallah, displayed meticulously at eye level, whispered stories of brewing Qahwa and Khaleeji coffee, staples of celebrations and everyday life.
Abdalla Al Our Alkaabi, a guardian of Emirati heritage, presented a mesmerising collection of traditional homeware. His focus was on ‘Zamzamiyat,’ metal bottles encased in felt, symbolising a mid-1950s societal shift with their beautiful designs becoming cherished family possessions. Meanwhile, Abdelrahman Al Haj transported visitors to Emirati households of the past with his collection of everyday items, electronics, and even vintage telephones, often showcased at various events.
The final exhibition showcased the evolution of Emirati currency, with coins minted from 1982 to 2023 displayed alongside Ahmed Alhasawi’s collection of diverse currencies and postage stamps. Each artefact whispered tales of economic progress and cultural exchange.Leaving the Antiques Exhibition, we carried with us not just memories of fascinating objects, but a deeper appreciation for the rich heritage and cultural pride that permeated the Qasr Al Hosn Festival. It was a journey through time, reminding me of the enduring spirit of Emirati traditions and the creativity that continues to shape its future.
Embracing Cultural Gems: Henna and Falconry at Qasr Al Hosn Festival
