After years of waiting (and I mean years) – Topgolf Dubai is about to open! Known around the world as one of the best casual sporting activities – Topgolf is a unique, gamified golf driving range that offers a fun challenge suitable for anyone. I’ve visited Topgolf with both complete golf newbies, and semi-pro golf enthusiasts (obsessives?) – without fail everyone has a great time at Topgolf Dubai.

Topgolf Dubai – What is Topgolf?
You might be asking yourself – isn’t this just another, albeit fancy, golf driving range? Well…no. That’s like saying going to the movies is just like a big TV (terrible simile, but I tried). Topgolf is more like a live action video game than it is golf. Or if archery and golf got together and created a perfect combination of the two. It’s like ten-pin bowling…only actually fun and outdoors (good for social distancing). Also – bowling is kind of gross…putting your fingers in the same ball-holes as everyone else. Not for me – thanks!
Back on topic…put simply – there are a whole bunch of targets and bullseyes all over the course – with different driving range games giving you different objectives and scores. Each golf ball is microchipped and automatically scored so your Topgolf experience is as simple as possible.
Tip #1 – Start with the Beginners Top Golf game
As the name suggests, this is a great beginner game. No prizes for distance, so it evens the playing field – doesn’t matter if you lift bro. This name of this game is to simply get your golf balls close to any of the targets – the closer to the bullseye the more points you get. The closest hole is easy enough for my 5-year-old to make the distance – I’m sure you can too.
Tip #2 – Bring your own clubs to Topgolf Dubai
If you are a bit of a golfer – then it’s always nice to have your own sticks (golf clubs). Plus, it is a good way to intimidate your friends…walking in looking pro. But don’t worry – you don’t need to bring your own golf clubs to Topgolf. They’ve conveniently got right, and left hand sets available for all ages FREE OF CHARGE – so don’t worry about it
Tip #3 – Winners are grinners
Topgolf Dubai is designed to bring out the competitive spirit in everyone – so don’t be shy. Talk some trash, have your own prizes (dinner on the loser is always a good one) – amp up the competitiveness to really get the most out of sporty your night out at Topgolf Dubai. Or hey, you can always be nice and golf-clap everything. I guess.
Is Topgolf Dubai Kid-friendly?
It sure is – it’s actually a great way to get the little ones active – but still pretty self-contained. Probably you don’t want to go much younger than 5 – even 6…but you can try. It’s a great option for your teenage boys – it is the nice blend of competitive action-oriented activity, without any real safety concerns. Put it this way – I’ll be buying my teenage son a membership
Does Topgolf have mini-golf as well?
You bet it does. So not only is there the full driving range, but also a 9-hole Dubai themed mini golf course. I personally love mini golf and frankly the mini golf options in Dubai are pretty slim. Is this the best mini golf in Dubai? Not sure yet – I’ll let you know.
Where is Topgolf Dubai located?
Topgolf Dubai is located at Emirates Golf Club – just off Sheik Zayed Road near Nakheel Metro Station (on the other side of SZR to Media City). So – you can easily get the Metro to Nakheel or use the ample parking at the club. Pretty easy.
When does Topgolf Dubai open?
Not soon enough. It looks like Topgolf will open in Dubai sometime in October 2020. Given it is outdoors – and the weather is getting better – it seems like it will be a good outdoor sports activity option during the current situation. But that remains to be seen.
