Cycling in Dubai – The new trend

A new trend has hit the UAE. You are probably wondering what this trend is? Let me shed some light on this. Cycling is the new trend! But the UAE roads sadly are not equipped for bicycles and due to the influx of expats in the UAE and the demand for tracks, the UAE in the last few years have heavily invested in the construction of tracks across the UAE especially where the expats are living like Al Meydan, Jumeirah, and Al Mamzar to name a few.

On social media, people videoing themselves cycling has become a new trend and many people are jumping on the bandwagon. For example, Sheikh Mohammad was videoed on social media riding his bike with his friends, and the very next day many nationals followed suit. The UAE is setting an example for people to increase physical activity and ensure its importance as well as have it included in their daily routine.

Now all day long you will see everyone riding their bikes not just for fun but also as a means of transportation to their work. Look forward to more roads being converted to bike-friendly tracks to enable everyone to have an alternative source of transportation.

Cycle and enjoy the nature

Some cyclists tend to start their cycling journey from Mushrif park to Al Khawaneej, meaning that these two tracks are connected, which makes a total of approximately 12 km. Starting this journey may be quite tough but by time cyclists often cycle more than one lap over this track to keep up with their cycling schedule. Mushrif’s route has a great scenery and is a bit challenging since it is not only a straight track, but has slops which makes it a little bit harder but still enjoyable. The views are a bit different when it comes to both places, although this makes it exciting for cyclists as it does not end up being a repetitive view. Furthermore, by 2021, The RTA is planning to expand the cycling track distance to 32 km along with Mushrif, Mirdif, and Academic city streets.
